Profile: Each oyster is farm raised, hand selected, and packed with the flavors of Duxbury Bay. Our crop is the Eastern Oyster (Crassostrea virginica) which are plump and buttery with a clean, salty finish. Most of their life is lived on the Bay floor, creating a strong, fanned shell and hardy meat.
Preparation: We won't stop you from chefing up our oysters on the grill or stovetop, but we believe Merry Oysters' deep cups and fresh salty meat are best served raw on the half shell. Check out our customized oyster knives in our list of products or our Shuck, Eat, and be Merry Party Pack that contains spicy cocktail sauce and mignonette.... but we also love them just bare, or with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
Handling: Live Oysters are best eaten within a week of harvest but will stay alive longer if carefully handled and kept cold. Simply put in a bowl in your refrigerator and cover with a damp cloth, or put in a cooler and cover with ice. Just make sure your oysters don't sit in standing water. Shipping: Merry Oysters ships Monday - Thursday. Orders placed after 6:30 a.m. Thursday thru midnight Sunday will be shipped the following Monday. If you order after 6:30 a.m. and we have not yet finished our daily harvest, we will send out same day and you'll receive an e-mail stating your oysters have shipped (remember oysters will be fresh to eat up to 10 days after harvest). If you want oysters for the weekend order by 6:30 a.m. Thursday and FedEx guarantees your package arrives by 8:00 p.m. Friday. We pack our product in mesh bags in one piece insulated packing boxes with ice packs. They'll get to you fresh and delicious!
